Cannabis Flower

Frosty and Fragrant

Cannabis flower is the heart of the cannabis experience. Those sticky, aromatic buds pack the plant’s natural power, and for many, flower will always be the go-to choice for smoking, vaping, or crafting homemade edibles.

Whether you’re looking to spark creativity, unwind after a long day, or just vibe with friends, cannabis flower offers endless possibilities and an experience tailored to you. No wonder so many of our customers visit us for ultra-fresh cannabis flower, much of it grown at our state-of-the-art facility here in Billings.

The Plant's Life Cycle

Where All the Magic Begins

There’s a lot that needs to happen for cannabis plants to produce those tempting, frosty-looking buds. First, cannabis plants have sexes—the ones that produce flowers are female, which is why cultivators are careful to remove the male plants from their grow rooms. If the males succeed in pollinating the female plants, the females will turn their energy towards producing seeds rather than the intoxicating flower we know and love.

What are trichomes?

As a female plant matures, it produces tiny structures known as trichomes. While they appear as a milky white or silvery “dust” on ripe flower, those bulbous trichomes are actually microscopic glands that produce the bulk of its beneficial cannabinoids, namely THC and CBD—the major “active ingredients” in cannabis—and terpenes.

What are terpenes?

A large family of compounds that includes beta-caryophyllene, pinene, and other natural oils, terpenes contribute to the bulk of the cannabis plant’s aromatic and flavor profile, along with some potential medicinal benefits. The most common terpene is myrcene, which has a pungent, earthy aroma and may contribute to natural pain-relieving effects.

What’s In a Strain?

Different cannabis varieties are classified as “strains” or “cultivars,” and different strains can produce markedly different effects.

Indica

Cannabis indica strains are mostly known for imparting a deeply relaxing, body-centered psychoactivity.

Hybrid

Most modern strains are hybrids, combining qualities of both indicas and sativas. For many cannabis enthusiasts, hybrids offer the best of both worlds.

Sativa

Cannabis sativa strains are associated with a cerebrally uplifting euphoria—in some cases, even with energizing effects.

How to Choose the Right Cannabis Flower For You

Just like no two people are exactly alike, no cannabis strain is exactly alike, meaning you have nearly unlimited options in terms of choices. But how do you decide which one is best for you? To get started on your flower journey, the first questions to ask yourself are:

  1. What’s my personal preference?
  2. Are there any specific effects I want to experience?

While a heavily relaxing indica might be just the ticket after a long day at work, it might not be the first choice when you’re getting ready to go out on the town. On the other hand, an energizing sativa may help you find creative inspiration and focus, but it may not be the best choice if you’re about to hit the hay.

One aspect of cannabis that deserves more attention is the impact each strain’s terpene profile has on the overall experience. While researchers are still untangling the mysteries of terpene interactions, identifying a given strain’s dominant terpene can go a long way towards helping predict its effects—thus giving you a far greater chance of having the desired outcome.
